Escaped Icelandic prisoner: "I'll be back soon"
Sindri Þór Stefánsson, the prisoner who escaped from Sognið open prison and fled Iceland on Wednesday morning has sent a declaration to Fréttablaðið newspaper saying that he was held in jail without justice and that he's going to prove it. He also said he's coming home to Iceland soon.

Police operation to save cat stuck in an island on Lake Tjörnin in Reykjavik
A cat named Grímkell somehow got himself stuck on a tiny island in Lake Tjörnin at the centre of Reykjavik last night. Police were notified that a cat meowing very loudly was stuck on the island and an extensive operation ensued.

Happy Icelandic First Day of Summer!
For a long time after Iceland was settled the year was split into two seasons, winter and summer. The first day of summer is still celebrated in Iceland, and it’s today!

Escaped prisoner was on same flight as Iceland's PM
The prisoner who escaped from the Sognið open prison was on the same flight out of Iceland as Prime Minister Katrín Jakobsdóttir. The PM was travelling to Sweden to meet with Nordic heads of state and the Indian Prime Minister.

The Free The Nipple cause caused an immense stir in Icelandic society yesterday, breaking down norms, raising questions and making a strong feminist statement. Women, men, girls and boys were united for gender equality. Mbl.is visited a few colleges in Reykjavík and interviewed students about what the day means to them.
