The first direct flight chartered by Super Break was flown from Cardiff in Great Britain to Akureyri in North Iceland. A Boeing 737-800 landed in Akureyri at noon carrying 185 passengers.

The mayor of Akureyri and Iceland's Minister of Transport  were present when the plane arrived and made a speech to celebrate the occasion.  The plane was then boarded by 100 passengers from Akureyri to Edinburgh in Scotland.

The direct flights received a better reception than staff at Super Break dared to hope and this January and February around 2.500 British tourists will fly to Akureyri.
