2 Jan 2019 Police are waiting for the results of an autopsy of the passengers who died when a jeep plunged through a railing and off a bridge at Núpsvötn as part of their investigation to find out what happened. Four were injured in the accident including two children who are on the road to recovery.

28 Dec 2018 The women who died in the car crash at Núpsvötn yesterday were born in 1979 and 1981. The baby girl who died would have been one years old in January.

28 Dec 2018 Police in South Iceland hope to speak with the two men who were transported to Landspítalinn National University Hospital yesterday after their rental jeep plunged through a railing and off a bridge in South East Iceland. Two children also survived the crash and are seriously injured in hospital.

Four people are in hospital in Reykjavik with serious injuries.

Both wives died in this morning's accident

27 Dec 2018 Two brothers and their families were in the jeep that plunged through a railing and off a bridge some ten metres crashing on sand. Both wives were killed in the accident and a very young child. This was confirmed by the Indian embassy to mbl.is this evening.

27 Dec 2018 South Iceland police have confirmed that two adults and one young child, all non-Icelanders died in the accident at Núpsvötn bridge this morning. Four people, two adults and two children aged 7 and 9 were taken to hospital in helicopters.

27 Dec 2018 A tow truck is now trying to remove the jeep driven by the British family up to the bridge and from the scene of the accident. All those injured were flown to hospital in Reykjavik via helicopter and their injuries are very serious. The Suðurlandsvegur road is still closed in both directions.
