Thousands a day on tours to see Northern Lights in Iceland

As winter approaches in Iceland, the spectacular Northern Lights return – and many tourists begin to arrive specifically to see them.

It is estimated that several thousands of people every day will be going on Northern Lights tours this winter, with travel agencies and tour operators running trips of various kinds.

Visitors can choose from among such options as viewing the Northern Lights from jeeps, from the seas, from the highlands, or from the warmth of hot springs. Some operators also combine Northern Lights tours with such things as restaurant bookings.

Northern Lights tours are usually organised between October and March, but especially good conditions recently mean that some tours have been made as early as August.
