New Iceland President: Heading to France for Monday's big match

Guðni Th. Jóhannesson will become the new president of Iceland in August, replacing Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson. Speaking to mbl.is last night when the results were clear he said that he hope to "Become a president for all the people of Iceland."

Polls opened at 9 am this morning for Iceland's presidential elections.

According to a new Gallup poll conducted for the RÚV national broadcasting service, Guðni Th. Jóhannesson still has a strong lead with 44.6 percentsupport. Second in the lead is now Halla Tómasdóttir, who surges up from 12.6 in the last poll to 18.6 support.
