The activity of the eruption at the Sundhnúkagígar crater row has not changed much, but it seems that the crater‘s wall has risen since yesterday.

This is what Sigríður Magnea Óskarsdóttir, a natural hazard specialist at the Icelandic Met Office, says.

If you look at the webcams of mbl.is for a short while, you might think that the volcanic eruption has ended, as there is little evidence of magma still tumbling up.

“But you see quite a few snippets,” she says.

Seismic activity is similar

“At least the activity in the crater hasn’t been increasing,” Óskarsdóttir says, noting that activity isn’t necessarily decreasing either.

The seismic activity in the area is similar to the previous days.
