Despite Icelanders queuing like crazy when the first Dunkin' Donuts branch opened on Reykjavik's main shopping street two years ago, the famous doughnut chain is closing down due to running at a loss.

The branch will close down on November 1st and according to managing director of Dunkin'Donuts in Iceland, Sigurður Kalrsson, the decision is based on the fact that the branch is running at a loss mostly due to the extremely high rent.

"Despite a great number of customers daily at the Laugavegur branch it simply doesn't work out to run a 350 square metre branch in this expensive location."

No other changes are in the cards for the other four branches in Iceland.
