Doughnut-mania in Iceland is far from dead. The first in line outside the new branch of Dunkin’ Donuts in Reykjavik’s Kringlan shopping centre arrived to save their place in the early hours of this morning.

The new branch – Iceland’s second –opened its doors for the first time at 10am, meaning the first people in the expectant queue had been waiting for very many hours. A queue of 40-50 had formed by the time the shop opened.

The first twenty were given a voucher entitling them to a free box of six doughnuts every week for a year.

A third branch is expected to be opened before the end of the year, possibly outside of Reykjavik.
