Eleven new restaurants for the hip Grandi harbour district in Reykjavik

27 Mar 2018 In recent years restaurants have been popping up around Grandi, the fish packing district of Reykjavik. Now, eleven requests to open new restaurants there await licences from the city authorities to open there.

Sindri Snær Jensson and Jón Davíð Davíðsson, owneres of hip streetwear shop Húrra and also the owners of the new pizza place set to open at Grandi.

22 Apr 2017 The latest addition to the growing flora of trendy restaurants and shops at Grandi, a formal industrial part of the harbour, is a hip sourdough pizza joint set to open this summer.

Japanese Manga style teahouse opens in Reykjavik's hip Grandi area

27 Sep 2016 Swiss artist and pastry chef Sara Hochuli fell in love with Iceland at the Iceland Airwaves music festival in 2009. Now she has moved to Reykjavik and is opening Kumiko, a Japanese tea house offering colourful cakes and a Manga influenced menu.

The restaurant is located in an old fishing factory.

27 Aug 2016 The harbour area of Reykjavik is fast becoming one of the liveliest places to eat out in the city. One of the latest additions is Matur og Drykkur, run by Gísli Matthías Auðunsson who is also responsible for the acclaimed Slippurinn in the Westman Islands.
