Icelandic coast guard vessel Týr saved 320 refugees today from a fishing boat about 30 seamiles north of Libya. There were numerous children on the vessel, the youngest being only a year old and two pregnant women were also onboard. Týr took the refugees to Sicily this afternoon.
The fishing vessel was a 12 metre long wooden motorboat and it had started leaking. If Týr hadn't come to rescue, the boat would have sunk.
The refugees are all safe and sound in Sicily after undergoing questioning.
