Iceland's hippest chocolate factory, Omnom chocolate, caught fire yesterday. The new chocolate factory in the Grandi area of Reykjavik was set to open in two months time.

The current factory is in Seltjarnarnes but the new factory which was currently being set up is much larger and situated in Hólmaslóð 4. According to owner of Omnom chocolate Kjartan Gíslason the damage done by the fire is not as bad as it previously looked. The premises are on two floors, with the factory on the bottom floor and a shop on the upper floor.

The Grandi area is becoming quite the foodie heaven with cheese shops, cake shops, a butcher's and an ice cream shop.

"I don't think this is serious but we're going over the matter today," says Gíslason who said that news of the fire had come as a shock. "I don't this will set back our plans though. We'll be open before the summer. "
