Nothing stays the same for ever, not even Bæjarins beztu pylsur (BBP), one of Iceland’s leading purveyors of the national snack, the humble hot-dog.

The famous Björnsbakarí bakery has been making the bread rolls for BBP hot-dogs for 78 years. The owners are putting the bakery up for sale, so BBP will be taking their entire bread custom to Gæðabakstur bakery from 1 September 2015.

BBP is one of the oldest companies in central Reykjavik and celebrated its 70th birthday in 2007. It has been owned by the same family for the entire period.

The renowned hot-dog purveyor now operates in six locations in the Greater Reykjavik area and was responsible for Reykjavik’s respectable 13th place in Thrillist’s ‘16 Best Street-Food Cities in the World’ ranking.
