Department of Immigration vandalised

Vandals last night sprayed the word FASISTAR (meaning ‘fascists’) in large red letters onto the windows of Iceland’s Directorate of Immigration in Reykjavik.

Given the timing, the probable motive for the attack is the deportation in the early hours of yesterday morning of Albanian refugees who had been denied asylum in Iceland.

A petition demanding the resignation of Ólöf Nordal, Icelandic Minister of Home Affairs, for her involvement in the affair has garnered over 5,750 signatures.
