Fatal Accident Near Kirkjubæjarklaustur, South Iceland
A fatal accident occurred on Ring Road One, east of the village Kirkjubæjarklaustur, South Iceland, about 40 minutes past midnight, when a truck veered off the road and rolled over, mbl.is reports. A passenger died, but the driver escaped without injury.
Severe weather was in the area when the accident happened, with major wind gusts. Rescue vehicles were damaged as their windows were blown out by the wind, according to a statement, posted by the police. Only rescue work could be completed on site, due to weather, but once the weather improves today, an investigation of the accident site will be conducted.
The investigation will be done by the South Iceland Police Department, the forensics department of the Capital Area Police, and the investigative board of transportation accidents.
