Death Investigated as Manslaughter
A 30-year-old man died of his wounds Saturday at Landspítali National University Hospital, after having been attacked in front of his home on the street Vallakór, Kópavogur, Friday morning, Morgunblaðið reports. His name was Daníel Eiríksson.
His death is being investigated as a manslaughter, states Chief Superintendent Margeir Sveinsson. The investigation involves finding out how the victim suffered the injuries that led to his death.
On Saturday, three men were arrested in connection with the case, two of whom were later released. The third one, who is in his 20s, was remanded in custody for five days by the Reykjanes District Court, in the interest of the investigation. He claims this was an accident.
According to mbl.is, the case is not believed to be connected to the murder committed on the street Rauðagerði, Reykjavík, in February, nor is it believed to be connected to organized crime.
