Fiery ‘Eyes’ of Fagradalsfjall Craters: Video

Vala Hafstað

Looking into the fiery ‘eye’ of a crater is a rare opportunity.

Photographer and entrepreneur Björn Steinbekk was quick to seize the chance to film the volcanic eruption that started Friday night in Geldingadalur valley, by Fagradalsfjall mountain, on the Reykjanes peninsula, Southwest Iceland, mbl.is reports.

He did so by using a drone that he flew over the erupting fissure, looking directly into the eyes of the craters.

His video shows the area in daylight as well as in darkness, and, as you will see, the beauty of the natural forces is captivating.

No words suffice to describe this mesmerizing view. Enjoy.

Due to inclement weather and dangerously high gas levels, no one should attempt to visit the eruption area today.
