There are various ways of sending Christmas greetings. The crew of the rescue vessel Gísli Jóns from Ísafjörður left an original one Tuesday for the Icelandic Coast Guard. The greeting was left in Ísafjarðardjúp fjord, the West Fjords, mbl.is reports.

When the people on call in the Coast Guard’s control center checked the rescue vessel’s recent track, they discovered a huge Christmas greeting in the middle of the fjord – the vessel’s track was in the shape of a Christmas tree.

This was the crew’s way of showing its appreciation to the Icelandic Coast Guard for the terrific cooperation that exists between the Coast Guard and ICE-SAR, the Icelandic Association for Search and Rescue.

The Icelandic Coast Guard posted the above map on its Facebook page, wishing the crew of Gísli Jóns and all seafarers a merry Christmas.
