It looks like there will be a white Christmas in most parts of Iceland, mbl.is reports.

The outlook is for good weather all over the country over Christmas, and today, the weather is good, although it remains rather windy in the West Fjords.

“It looks like the weather for Christmas will be good all over the country,” a statement from a meteorologist at the Icelandic Met Office reads, “since the forecast calls for calm, variable winds with isolated showers or sleet, mainly in the northeast and southwest, so the outlook is good in most parts of the country for those who wish for a white Christmas.”

Between Christmas and New Year, we’ll see a change in the weather:  southerly winds, with warmer temperatures and rain.

Some mountain roads remain impassable, but more roads will likely open today. You can check road conditions at road.is
