Fatal Accident in Southeast Iceland

One person is dead, following an accident on Ring Road 1 in Southeast Iceland yesterday, in which a pedestrian was run over by a car, mbl.is reports. 

The accident was reported at about 5:30 pm, near the farm Viðborðssel, located a short distance west of Höfn í Hornafirði.

Police and first responders quickly arrived to the scene, followed by the investigative unit of traffic accidents.

The Ring Road was closed while police worked at the site of the accident, resulting in traffic delays into the evening.

This is the fifth fatal traffic accident in Iceland this year.
