 Lactalis, a French dairy company has bought Siggi's skyr, a company owned by an Icelander which sells skyr in 25 thousand stores in the US. 

Siggi's skyr, or as the company behind it is called, The Icelandic Milk and Skyr Corporation was founded by Sigurður Hilmarsson, Siggi, in 2006. Siggi's skyr will continue to be run independently and Hilmarsson will continue as director and Bart Adlam as CEO. 

Hilmarsson says that he's excited in joining Lactalis which gives the company an opportunityto grow even further. He adds that the formula behind the skyr will remain the same, pure ingredients and little sugar. 

Lactalis is the largest dairy company in the world with over 75 thousand employees in 85 countries. Among the cheeses it produces are Président®, Galbani®, Parmalat®, Stonyfield Farm®, Bridel, Rachel's Organic and Skånemejerier.
