Iceland top trending adventure destination

Iceland is the world’s number one trending destination for adventure holidays, according to a survey recently published by international luxury travel agency Virtuoso.

According to a press release from the company, 95% of Virtuoso travel agencies are reporting an increase in demand and sales for “active, adventure and speciality travel” and Iceland comes top of the list of places gaining popularity.

Iceland is followed in the list by Galapagos/Ecuador, Costa Rica, Chile/Patagonia and New Zealand.

“Travelers crave authentic experiences, choosing to immerse themselves in destinations to learn, not merely sightsee,” reads the article.

“Today’s health-conscious travelers want to maintain their lifestyle away from home. As well, a trip where they can indulge personal passions, whether athletic, artistic or gourmet, is a priority.”
