Icelandic aircraft to Sicily for border control
An Icelandic Coast Guard aircraft will be leaving for Sicily, Italy, at the end of January to take up a month-long shift monitoring Mediterranean borders for the European Union’s external borders agency Frontex.
The Bombardier Dash 8 Q300 aircraft, registration TF-SIF, has also been commissioned for a two-month mission in the Mediterranean in the autumn.
The aircraft will be leaving Iceland with a crew of four, and a team of flight mechanics and station commanders.
