Nearly 900,000 Passengers Passed Through KEF Airport

Nearly 900,000 passengers passed through Keflavík International Airport between June 1 and August 31 this year, compared with nearly 2.5 million during the same time in 2019. That represents a 64 percent reduction, mbl.is reports, quoting a statement from Isavia, the company that operates the airport.

Compared with the summer of 2020, however, there was a 204 percent increase in the number of people who passed through the airport this summer.

In addition, passenger numbers increased considerably from June until August this year, or from 136,000 in June compared with nearly 415,000 in August.

According to Isavia, 15 airlines plan to fly through Keflavík International Airport this winter, but that number could potentially change, depending on COVID-19 measures at the border.
