Icelandair has announced that it is waiving the change fee for passengers who have a flight booked with the airline in the coming weeks, mbl.is reports.

This decision was announced in a statement sent to customers to whom this applies. The email was sent to passengers in the wake of US President Donald Trump’s announcement to impose a 30-day travel ban from Europe to the US on non-US citizens, excluding travel from the UK - a ban that has forced Icelandair to cancel numerous flights to the US.

The email message states that the airline stresses flexibility and has made the decision to allow passengers, whose flight is booked in the coming weeks, to change the date of their flight without paying a change fee.

A link is given to a page where information on rebooking and changes is provided, but there is clearly a great deal of traffic on the website right now. At the same time, the message states that information regarding bookings can change rapidly. Therefore, passengers are encouraged to follow the latest information and advice provided on the website of the Directorate of Health.

The Directorate of Health’s website can be visited here. It is updated on a regular basis with information relating to COVID-19.

The airline states it will contact all passengers whose flights are canceled.
