Delta Air Lines is now operating its first ever winter schedule between Iceland’s Keflavik International Airport and New York John F. Kennedy International Airport.

Hitherto only a summer route, Delta’s Iceland-New York service is now continuing throughout the winter, with a frequency of four flights a week.

This will continue through to 1 May 2017, when the airline will resume a daily rotation. An eighth weekly service will be added over the peak summer season.

Icelandic Tourist Board figures show that 360,000 US visitors and 74,000 Canadians have been to Iceland in the first ten months of 2016, outnumbering the country’s total population of 332,000.
