PHOTOS: Iceland glacier lagoon firework display
Almost 2,000 people attended the sixteenth annual firework display at Iceland’s stunning Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon on Saturday evening.
The event is organised by local search and rescue services and all proceeds from ticket sales go to fund their operations. The show began at 11pm and lasted for forty minutes.
The weather conditions were good, giving visitors spectacular views of the fireworks let off from icebergs in the middle of the lagoon.
According to Friðrik Jónas Friðriksson of the Hornafjörður Search and Rescue Service, this was the first year that organisers were aware of foreign visitors who had made the journey to Jökulsárlón specifically to attend the firework display.
Here are some of the spectacular images.
