80% of all tourists in Iceland taking whale-watching trips are from Europe, with visitors from the United States and the rest of the world showing relatively little interest.

According to a report on 2014 by Deloitte commissioned by Icelandic whale-watching association Icewhale, almost half of all whale-watchers in Iceland come from Central and Southern Europe, despite only accounting for 24% of all tourists in Iceland.

Conversely, visitors from the United States made up 20% of all tourists in Iceland in 2014, but just 8% of those taking a whale-watching trip.
