Iceland beach danger signs often ignored

Despite two fatal accidents at Iceland’s Reynisfjara beach, many visitors to the iconic beach seem still to be ignoring important safety information.

After a Chinese man was swept away to his death by strong waves at the famous black-sand beach – a popular tourist destination in Iceland – earlier this year, new signs were erected to indicate the danger.

An elderly American woman was also killed by ‘sneaker waves’ at the same place back in 2007.

The above video, put together by Icelandic news website mbl.is, shows people walking straight past warning signs, taking no notice of the information displayed.

One visitor can even be seen directing a young child towards the water’s edge to take a photograph.
