Jewellery company Orri Finn have launched a new jewellery range called Ouroboros and is based on the ancient symbol of a snake biting its tail.

"We are constantly inspired by the world of symbols," says designer Helga Guðrún Friðriksdóttir who owns Orri Finn with her goldsmith husband Orri Finnbogason. "Ouroboros is a symbol of eternity, it neither begins or ends and it reminds us also of the endless circle of life and death. The name is taken from ancient Greek but the symbol can be traced back to ancient Egypt."

She adds that the symbol is a powerful one and found in many esoteric texts. "It's nice when a piece of jewellery means something and becomes something you want to convey to the world."
