“No concrete plans” to open H&M in Iceland

Reports that Swedish retail-clothing giant H&M was planning to open two outlets in Iceland have been strenuously denied.

Icelandic news website DV (link in Icelandic) published yesterday news that talks were under way between H&M and Icelandic estate agents Reginn.

Helgi S. Gunnarsson, CEO of Reginn, says that the company is talking to many potential tenants and that any potential talks with H&M are a long way from any conclusion.

“There is no lease contract [with H&M] and no formal talks are under way,” he confirms.

An H&M spokesperson told Iceland Monitor’s sister news site mbl.is that “H&M does not have any concrete plans to open stores in Iceland”.
