Postponed strikes back on?

It is looking more and more likely that over 4,000 craftsmen in Iceland will come out on strike at midnight next Monday. Strike action was originally planned for last week, but was postponed after signs of progress emerged in negotiations over pay.

Two unions are potentially involved: the Icelandic Association of Electrical Industry Workers (RSÍ) and the Icelandic Association of Marine Engineers and Metal Technicians (VM).

Iceland Monitor reported earlier this month that any potential RSÍ strike may cause some flight disruption.

The two unions have been in talks with SA – Business Iceland since the initial strike plans were postponed but negotiations have since collapsed again.
