On Sunday, American actor Will Smith posted a picture of himself on Instagram, with Dettifoss waterfall, Northeast Iceland, in the background.

Incidentally, the Diamond Circle – a 250-km (155-mi) long circuit - was formally opened the same day the picture was posted, with a ceremony on Dettifossvegur road. It connects some of Iceland’s most spectacular sites, such as Dettifoss waterfall, Goðafoss waterfall, Mývatn lake, Ásbyrgi canyon, and the town of Húsavík.

The picture Smith posted was taken at the end of August when he spent some time in Iceland while a TV series he takes part in was being filmed, mbl.is reports. No further information is available about the filming project – neither regarding its subject nor its participants.

Smith posted the photo of himself and his friend Jay Shetty, a British vlogger and author, on the occasion of Shetty’s birthday.

But the actor did not just visit Dettifoss. Among the filming locations of the TV series was Stuðlagil ravine, East Iceland, which was closed August 28 and 29 while filming took place. The ravine has recently gained enormous popularity as a tourist attraction, not least due its columnar basalt, which is among the largest such formations in the country.
