President Guðni Th. Jóhannesson made a speech at Hólar,  one of two Episcopal seats in Iceland and one of its primary historical places in Iceland. His unusual socks put smiles on guests' faces.

The President visited Hólar to commemorate 350 years since the publication of Passiusálmar, or The Passion writen by Icelandic poet Hallgrímur Pétursson, after whom Hallgrímskirkja church in central Reykjavik is named.

Former President Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson liked to wear colourful ties, including one with an elephant pattern, and it looks like Jóhannesson has a penchant for colourful items, in this case matching his socks with a pink tie.
