21 Oct 2014 While Icelandic adults may have sighed this morning at the prospect of winter, children are always delighted when the first snow arrives. Youngsters all over Reykjavik pulled out their snow sleds and toboggans and tried their hand at building snowmen or throwing snowballs at each other.

Although children are gleeful at the prospect the snow is causing heavy traffic and the police reminds drivers to take care today. Several mishaps occurred in Kópavogur this morning due to cars getting stuck in the snow and slippery road conditions.

Rescue teams have been called out in south Iceland due to two recent road accidents. People are advised to refrain from travelling tonight.

20 Oct 2014 Rescue teams have just been called out to Hellisheiði, south Iceland when a truck skidded off the road where weather conditions are bad. There is snowfall, heavy wind and the road is very icy. A coach literally blew off the road near Ingólfsfjall mountain, south Iceland just after 6.p.m. Fortunately, no one was injured in either accident.
