26 May 2023 The short term strikes by pool workers based in the BSRB will likely result in pools having to be closed during the Pentecost weekend. This is stated in the BSRB announcement.

Flight delays can be expected tomorrow

23 May 2023 All domestic flights as well as seven Icelandair flights to Europe and the US this afternoon were cancelled due to the weather. Tomorrow’s flights will depend on how the aircraft will be able to get to Iceland today and go again this evening, but in most cases today’s international flights have been moved until later this evening.

20 May 2023 Niceair will file for bankruptcy. A press release from Niceair's board of directors stated that the company was severely affected by the failure of the HiFly operator, which caused Niceair to no longer have a plane available.

15 May 2023 Preparations for the European Council summit, which will take place in Harpa May 16.-17. of May are being finalized with the summit coming up. The meeting is the largest to be held here since the Reykjavik summit when US President Ronald Reagan and Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev met in Höfði in Reykjavik October 11-12 in 1986.

15 May 2023 Street closures in the city centre for safety reasons for the European Council summit in Harpa that starts tomorrow will affect bus travel. Buses travel along the changed routes from 21 to 19 on Monday until 19 on Wednesday.

Iceland is leading in using optical fiber cable in Europe

28 Apr 2023 Iceland is in the forefront of Europe for the fourth consecutive year in terms of the number of optical fibre connections. In total, 76.8 percent of households in Iceland are connected, followed by Spain with 73.6 percent and Portugal with 71.1 percent. Our Nordic cousins Sweden and Norway have 67.5 percent of households with optical fibre connections, Denmark 43 percent and Finland 43 percent.

23 Apr 2023 It is now possible to walk behind Seljalandsfoss by Eyjafjöll again, but this is a very popular tourist attraction in this area. This route usually closes in the autumn because when temperatures go beneath freezing, a large chunk of ice is produced, where a spray of water from the high waterfall overflows the area.
