The Blue Lagoon will open tomorrow

The Blue Lagoon opens to visitors in the morning. This is stated in a notification from the company.

The decision was taken in collaboration with the authorities. The company says that continued safety will be ensured and that experts will monitor the area closely.

Blue Lagoon closed – at least until tonight

The lagoon was evacuated on February 8, but about 150 people were in the buildings of the Blue Lagoon when an eruption began between Mt Sundhnúkur and Stóra-Skógafell the morning of the same day. It took about 40 minutes to evacuate the lagoon.

Restaurants and hotels

The restaurants Lava and Moss and the Lón’s spas will open again as well as the company’s hotels, Silica and Retreat.

The announcement also states that guests need to take an alternate route to reach the lagoon due to interference on the lagoon's access road.
