Searching for hot water in Kjalarnes

Veitur, a subsidiary of Reykjavík Energy, is planning an extensive exploration for hot water in Kjalarnes. The company has applied for a permit to drill exploration wells and the Reykjavík Planning Commissioner has recommended that an executive permit be granted. Measurements have indicated that hot water can be found in many places.
Secure enough water for the capital area
Veitur are looking to secure enough hot water for the future for the capital area. This project is looking at the area from the Hvalfjörður tunnel and into Kollafjörður. The area near Vallá is especially considered, but there already is a deep research hole.
