Many of the strongest men in Iceland have signed up

“Hvammsvík is an old settlement farm  and comes with many legendary stories from the Viking era, so it’s perfect for a powerful dynamic beach-side competition at the Hvammsvík Hot Springs. Already many of the strongest men in Iceland have signed up to play, and it’s going to be a tough event. It takes no small giant to lift a round rock of 170 kilos to the shoulder of a sandy beach. I look forward to seeing these glaciers sprout out of the rocks and it will be nice to crown the Hvammsvík Viking,” says Skúli Mogensen, founder of the Hvammsvík Hot Springs.

The Hot Springs in Hvammsvík opened this summer and have been a top destination for locals and tourists alike.  The Hvammsvík Hot Springs are located in the heart of Hvalfjörður, a mere 45 minutes drive from Reykjavík.

There are eight separate, hot, springs and natural pools that can be seen through the fjord. The baths were designed to fit in with the nature and the history of the area, while the guesthouse is made up of an old foundation, one of many that survived after the war years.
