Ideal Time to Practice Driving

What do you do when the streets are almost empty? Driving instructor Ævar Friðriksson has the answer. “The conditions for practice driving may be better than ever. Many parents of student drivers probably have a more flexible schedule than before. There is next to no traffic, which is ideal for young people who are learning to operate the car and getting used to the surroundings,” he tells Morgunblaðið.
Since a ban on public gatherings was imposed in Iceland more than two weeks ago, people must be careful to keep a 2-meter distance between them. This forced driving instructors to stop giving lessons.
According to Morgunblaðið, students who have completed driver’s ed and taken ten lessons with a driving instructor are allowed to practice driving with, for example, their parents.
The Mjódd driving school continues to offer driver’s ed classes before practical lessons begin. This they can do by having fewer students in a classroom than before. No driver’s tests are offered at this time.
