Deteriorating Road Conditions Today
The Icelandic Met Office has issued a yellow weather alert for the West Fjords, Northwest Iceland, Northeast Iceland, and the eastern coastal areas. The alert took effect early this morning and is good through late evening or early morning, mbl.is reports.
A north-easterly gale with snow is expected in all these areas, with blowing snow, poor visibility and deteriorating driving conditions. The weather is likely to affect transportation.
In Northwest Iceland, most of the precipitation is expected on the Tröllaskagi peninsula and in the Strandir region.
In the West Fjords, the warning is effective through midnight. In Northwest Iceland, it will be good through 8 pm, through 10 pm in Northeast Iceland, and through 1 am in the eastern coastal areas.
