There have been power outages in many parts of South Iceland this morning, due to the severe weather, according to RARIK-Iceland State Electricity. Here, you can view a map of all the affected areas.

Twelve areas in South Iceland have reported power outages and two in West Iceland. Among the areas without power is Mýrdalur, South Iceland, and in Vík í Mýrdal, electricity is rationed. Residents are asked to conserve electricity. Hornafjörður, Southeast Iceland, including the town Höfn, remains without power as well.

No less than 27 power poles are broken in Landeyjar, South Iceland, and the power line between Kirkjubæjarklaustur and Vík is down.

Crews have begun repairs in Árnessýsla county, but farther east, access is still very difficult. On top of that, a line of lightning is expected in Southeast Iceland, which not only can cause power outages, but also impedes the search for the source of power failures, as well as repairs.
