mbl/Arnþór

The Reykjavík Metropolitan Police Department announced on Facebook this morning that a boy has come forward in connection with the case of recent attacks on young girls in Garðabær.

Yesterday, the police announced they were looking for a young man in connection with the attacks. They posted photos of him on Facebook, asking him, or those who recognized him, to come forward. It is not clear from the statement posted today whether this was the teenage boy who came forward today.

Today’s statement reads:

„Before noon, a statement will be taken from a teenage boy, in connection with a police investigation regarding attacks on young girls in Garðabær in recent days, but the boy came forward and arrived at the police station in the company of his parents. Altogether, the police are investigating five cases, and are now looking into whether the boy is connected to them all.

The police have done their best to solve the case as quickly as possible. Information from the public has been crucial, and the police want to thank all who have assisted in the case. No further information can be provided at this point, since the investigation is at an early stage.”
