American tourist found dead at Sólheimasandur

The American tourist who went missing in Iceland has been found next to the Jökulsá river at Sólheimasandur this afternoon. Police have informed his nearest of kin. It is not believed that his death was a criminal act. 

The man's body has been transported to Reykjavik where an autopsy will take place.
