Euro 2016: Iceland have never beaten France
As the dust settles in Nice, the so-far invincible blue army makes its way up to Paris ahead of Sunday’s quarter-final clash against hosts France.
If last night’s trouncing of England came as a shock to the football world, Iceland will have to pull off an ever greater coup to advance to the semi-final. As well as being hot favourites to win the entire competition, France have never lost to Iceland in the history of their international encounters.

The two teams have met on eleven occasions since 1957. Their first match saw France hammer Iceland 8-0, and their most recent – an international friendly four years ago – ended in a 3-2 defeat for Iceland.
Of the eleven matches, there have been eight French victories and three draws.
Looking at this in historical context, however, Iceland seem to on something of a roll. They have had two victories so far in Euro 2016 – against Austria and England. These two teams had, just like France, never lost to Iceland before...
