The port of Reykjavik witnessed a remarkable sight yesterday as a Russian training ship sailed into two ships belonging to the Icelandic Coast Guard.

“Considerable damage” has been caused to both Týr and Þór by the Russian training ship Kruzenshtern. The crew of the Russian vessel have agreed to remain in Iceland until all reporting has been concluded.

Týr has been deemed unseaworthy, while repairs are currently being made to Þór. An investigation team was called in yesterday to draft a report on the incident together with police.
