Two lambs — the first ones of the season — were born at the farm Skarð in Landsveit, South Iceland, Sunday morning, Morgunblaðið reports.

“The first lambs that are born are always harbingers of spring,” states Guðlaug Berglind Guðgeirsdóttir, farmer at Skarð.

Her daughter, Anna Sigríður Erlendsdóttir, takes good care of the ewe lambs, which have been named Aldís and Guðrún. She smiled from ear to ear when her picture was taken, clearly enjoying her work.

Guðlaug notes that the first lambs of the season always bring a great deal of joy. She does not believe the lambing season has begun at other farms.
