Icelandair Flights Canceled Due to Inclement Weather
Icelandair has decided to cancel flights scheduled for tonight and tomorrow morning, due to inclement weather. Guðni Sigurðsson, communications manager for Icelandair, tells Morgunblaðið the decision was made as soon as the weather forecast was available.
He states that this applies to aircraft that were scheduled to land at Keflavík International Airport tonight and to all flights from North America, originally scheduled to arrive tomorrow morning.
Passengers will receive information regarding the rescheduled departure time. If that time proves inconvenient, they can visit icelandair.com and make changes there by first selecting ‘My Journey.’
An unusually large low pressure system is forecast for tonight, to be followed by two additional ones on Friday and Sunday. Inclement weather is forecast for Southwest Iceland and the central highlands for tonight, which is when yellow weather alerts will take effect in many parts of the country. Considerable precipitation is expected overnight in Southeast Iceland and the East Fjords, and wind will pick up in the north as well. The weather will begin to improve tomorrow afternoon.
