New Video of Fagradalsfjall Eruption

Vala Hafstað

A new video from the Fagradalsfjall eruption, Southwest Iceland, was posted by Björn Steinbekk on mbl.is Wednesday. The eruption began March 19 – more than five months ago – and shows no signs of abating.

“During those five months, [I] have seen and recorded incredible changes in the vicinity, and the landscape is entirely different from what it was when [I] became one of the first people to visit the eruption site early morning on March 20th.”

Björn states that what he finds the most fascinating about the eruption is its constant change, force and beauty. A lava field has replaced what used to be valleys in Geldingadalir valleys.
