Yellow weather alert for central highlands

The Icelandic Met Office has issued a yellow weather alert for the central highlands for today. Winds of 15-20 m/sec are expected there and in the far south of the country, with considerable or heavy rain and poor visibility.
People traveling on foot or by bicycle in the highlands are advised not to travel in the affected area during this period. The same goes for people with tents. Strong wind gusts can be expected near mountains in South and West Iceland. People traveling in campers or vehicles with trailers are urged to show extreme caution.
Calmer winds are in the forecast for the north and east, with mostly dry conditions until tonight.
Temperatures will range from 7-13 degrees C (45-55 degrees F).
