Road through Eldhraun reopens in wake of glacial flood

 The number one road through Eldhraun has reopened to traffic. This part of the highway was closed since Saturday due to flooding from the Skaftá river glacial outburst flood. 

An announcement from the Road Administration states that despite water still flowing across the road, it has gone down sufficiently to allow traffic to pass. However, due to water damage, people should drive only in the middle of the road and there are traffic controls allowing cars to pass in one direction at a time. 

This part of the road only spans 500 metres and is around 1-2 kilometres from the turn-off to the Skál farm.
